Completed Projects: West Adams Façade Improvement Project
In the culturally and historically rich West Adams district, LANI conducted outreach and completed a façade improvement project that made transformative changes to two contiguous buildings, occupied by 13 businesses and several upper-story residences, on the southeast corner of Adams and Normandie. Improvements included exterior painting, coordinated signage, decorative lighting and awnings.
This project was funded through the City’s Neighborhood Block Grant Program, financed with federal Community Development Block Grant funds, and supported by the Mayor’s Office and Council District 8. Final improvements exceeded the original designs thanks to a pledge of additional funds from the former CRA/LA. With LANI’s assistance, community members selected the design firm of Studio One Eleven to work with them, as well as with property owners, tenants and the local Historic Preservation Overlay Zone Board, to design façade improvements intended to revitalize and integrate the corridor.
