Completed Projects: Jefferson Park Entry Monument

Jefferson Corridor, in South Los Angeles near West Adams, became a LANI neighborhood in 1994. Many vibrant sites dot the neighborhood, such as the famous Harold & Bell’s Creole restaurant, Leslie Shaw Park, Vassie D. Wright Library and churches and schools. A community entry monument was installed at the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and Jefferson Street. LANI worked with the community to develop a comprehensive work plan which outlined much needed neighborhood improvement projects, which LANI then implemented. Those elements include:

Additionally, LANI worked with the community to leverage private funds toward park improvements and funds for improvements to properties abutting the Art Park. LANI’s emphasis on public/private partnerships led to the approval and installation of pedestrian light fixtures attached to existing poles – the first in Los Angeles! A Business Improvement District (BID) was established in 1999.
