Fairfax Village in the western part of the city became a LANI neighborhood in June 1997. A Jewish cultural center for Los Angeles, Fairfax Village is home to kosher markets, stores specializing in Judaica and bakeries selling traditional Jewish products, as well as regional attractions, such as The Farmer's Market, The Grove Shopping Center, and CBS Television City. The area also hosts many unique shop's and restaurants. LANI's projects will benefit the area's large elderly population, which is overwhelmingly transit-dependent, by improving the safety, accessibility and attractiveness of the pedestrian and transit environments.
